Tires Plus

Ira had little mishap on his way to work this morning. Driving thru Washoe Valley at 70+ MPH the tire on the front drivers side blew out!!! UGH!!!
NO ACCIDENT, NO ONE HURT, Just A LOT of irritation!!!!
This is the SECOND tire that has blown out in the past few months!
We bought tires from Tires Plus a company that is known to be a RIP off...BUT when we needed tires they were the ONLY company in Carson city to have the tires we needed and were in stock!
So $800.00 later we THOUGHT we were getting a good tire. Now, this was 1 ago, ( I really don't know how long tires last) BUT we hardly go anywhere We live less than a mile from where we work and once in a great while drive to Reno which is ONLY an hour away. Hardly ANY ware and tear...
The last time this happened 3 weeks and 5 visits to the store later they FINALLY got it fixed.
Ira (my darling husband) is mad!
We shall see what they say tomorrow... I wouldn't want to be the person behind the counter when Ira walks in...

to be continued...

you should go with him and do the talking. you simply say in your Mrs June Cleaver-like voice, "Hello. My Name is Emily, and this is my darling husband [point to hubby as steam protrudes from his ears]. He isn't happy with the purchase of your product we made 1 year ago. Since then we have only driven about [#] of miles. And my darling husband [again pointing to hubby while he is adding the stink-eye to the steam] was assured that your tires get [#] of miles for the duration of the tire's lifespan. As you can see, my darling husband [again, pointing to him] is not happy. He wanted to come down here and speak with you himself. However, I thought it would be in everyone's best interest... and safety... If i came down here with my darling husband [again pointing to hubby as his clenched fists are now added to the mix] and tried to work things out. I know you'll be a dear and make this right for us, won't you now?" [worker nods hypnotically]. You turn to hubby and say, "There you go my darling. It's going to be all right now, you see? I'll see you at home." Kiss hubby on the cheek, and just before leaving, turn back to the worker and throw in, "I'm sure he's in good hands now, right?"

bwahahahahahahahahaha!

The tires may have been manufactured many years ago and been sitting on a shelf in the sun and varying temperatures which makes the tires weak and therefore easily blow out. The way to tell when they were manufactured is look for the four digit code on the inside of the tire. If the number is 2106- it was manufactured the 21st week of 2006. Tires shouldn't be older than 3-5 years weather of not they've been driven on. Ira is EXTREMELY lucky to not have had anythign happen. Most people roll their cars when the speed is in excess of 50 mph. You wanna know how I know all this? I saw a special on 20/20.

i wouldn't even go there for a replacement tire. i'd just go somewhere else and then take out a full page add in the newspaper about how bad tires plus is. actually i wouldn't do that, but i sure wouldn't want another inferior product.

I would make them replace the tires and then send a letter to the editor. I would also follow Emma's advice. I would love to see the reaction on their faces if you did that.
