Hogle Zoo
For my Birthday... Well I'm not so sure it was for that special day...
BUT,
Ira and I took a little trip to the Hogle Zoo in Salt Lake
If you look just above the electrical boxes you can see the Lion. She was growling. Kinda scary!!!
We love going to the zoo. It has been one of our favorite things to do since we got married!
We of course had to stop and check out the ducks. Ira was a little jealous because ALL of the ducks and geese we saw had a band on them.
(In the hunting world, it is a awesome day when you get a banded duck.)
I remember one year when Ira and I were first married, We skipped church and drove to Chicago to go to the Brookfield zoo. That by far was the best zoo we've been too.
All of the monkey's or monkey type animals were ON something!!! The few that we saw here I think these are chimpanzee's..(I don't remember)
They were really cute, and were in the grooming mood. The one on the far right would just sit there and all the others would come to it and just lay down in front of her and she would just groom them.
GROSS!
This one keep putting on a show for us.
I think this one was peeing.
(Don't I just capture the moment!)
We missed the Elephant show... Too bad I love Elephants!
The Hogle Zoo just had a baby Elephant this year
There is only a piece of THIN glass between this guy and me.
Nice Rhino!!!
My favorite stop! I LOVE giraffes. I was watching a show one time and they were showing how giraffes fight... They swing there necks way far out and hit each other with there heads!
OUCH!
Aren't they pretty!
Silly giraffes and their black tongues!
Silly giraffes and their black tongues!
I was concerned about this camels hump. See how it's all floppy. It's floppy because this camel is using it's stored fat. I didn't know that. But Ira did!
See how much you learn from going to the zoo!

Our last stop was this gorilla. She, was HUGE!
Plus! She really liked picking her nose and eating it.
Not just a little pick. She was GOING TO TOWN!!!

Not just a little pick. She was GOING TO TOWN!!!
I think she was a little embarrassed because she tried to hide behind a tree to pick her nose!
We are so excited to go back next summer.
They are getting Polar Bears!!!

Remington

Ira has been working really hard at teaching Remington to fetch ducks. Or what ever he shoots.
This was his first time out and he did really well.
Check out the video of Remington's first goose retrieve.
Remington when they got home, he was SO tired!!!
Poor Drake, he just doesn't know what to do with himself without his "brother", he just kinda walks around not knowing what to do.
Homemade laundry Soap
A Friend of mine and my SIL made home made laundry soap.
I was a little skeptical about it. After much thinking and thinking about it.
I decided to make it, save money, be a Molly Homemaker.
Sure lets try it.
This is what you'll need; You can find everything you need at your local grocery store.
Here's the recipe:
1 bar Fels Naptha soap
1 cup washing soda
1/2 cup borax powder
Grate the soap and put it in
a sauce pan. Add 6 cups water and heat it until the soap melts. Add the
washing soda and the borax and stir until it is dissolved. Remove from heat.
Pour 4 cups hot water into the bucket. Now add your soap mixture and stir.
Now add 1 gallon plus 6 cups of water and stir. Let the soap sit for about 24
hours and it will gel. You use ½ cup per load.
Now, lets talk about how I thought it turned out,
I didn't care for it. I made a 5 gallon bucket full of this soap I didn't like. LOL talk about a waste.
I did use it, but ONLY when I was OUT of normal laundry soap.
I felt like it just didn't get our clothes clean and really didn't get stains out the first time through
WE ALL KNOW THAT I HAVE STAINS!
I spill EVERYTHING on me!!!
OK, so JUST because I didn't like it doesn't mean you won't. My SIL makes it all the time and she loves it.
Go ahead try it, then come back and let me know what you think.
October = HUNTING
October means hunting,
Honestly so does November, December AND January.
Ira spent opening day (October 1st.) hunting with his brother Aaron.
Here's Ira out with Colby and his dad. (Colby is Ira's boss)
Ira's goal this year is got shoot 10 geese, So far he's gotten 12.
**CORRECTION, IRA HAS SHOT 14 GEESE**
This was there catch of that day.
I know your thinking what in the world do you do with them. Normally Ira makes this REALLY yummy Chili. This time Ira has decided to make jerky out of the meat. I'll let you know how it tastes.

I'll just update you on September.
I've already blogged about the sewing projects I did.
(Someday I'll move them to the "Projects" tab.)
The only other thing that happened was my Birthday.
NOT REALLY A BIG DEAL!
I'm not so sure why I'm having such a hard time turning
um... OLD Well only 32 GOSH 32!!!
I can't believe I'm 32! I really can't believe I'm saying (or typing) it out loud!
For my Birthday, Ira took me to Olive Garden, YUMMY all you can eat pasta bowls!
That is probably my FAVORITE restaurant.
That weekend my BIL made me a yummy dinner and my SIL made me a yummy cake.
It was a quite day and I loved spending time with my family.
