I got a call last Wednesday at the library from a concerned parent. She was wondering what stories we were going to read for Pre School Story time. So I told her we would be reading a two stories one normal everyday story and the other would be a Christmas story. She then asked if we were a religious organization? I wanted to say SO bad that no, we are a freedom of speech organization. but I didn't. I simple told her that throughout this month we will be touching on Christmas, Hanukkah, and Kwanzaa. She went on to complain that her family doesn't celebrate Christmas and we shouldn't be reading those books. She then asked what craft we were doing... I'm thinking oh great she's going to love this. We are doing a coloring page of a Christmas tree. Before she could say anything. I said that we could print off another page for her children if she would like. We then hung up.
Story time came around. We sang our songs we read our books. And did our craft. After that entire conversation... did the parent bring her kids??? NO!!!!!!! UGH!!!!! People need to learn that this time of year people celebrate all kinds of different ways. They need to GET OVER IT!!!
