Valentines/Anniversary

I'll start off with Valentines:
Ira and I spent the entire day together! We had a wonderful day. He did spend sometime in the garage working on a project. (silly projects, they always get in the way) In the afternoon we went shopping, and walked around Cabela's (where else?) He then took me to dinner, we went to a local casino (hello we live in Nevada) and ate at a buffet It's not just any buffet, it happens to be the don't eat all day gorge yourself best buffet. (At least to us) We then went home and made ice cream sundae's and watched "In Her Shoes", one of my most favorite movies.

And our 5th year wedding anniversary:

Now, most of you know that our anniversary is 1 week after valentines day. We normally mix the two in one. Ira spent the morning of our anniversary fishing with a buddy. (not really a big deal to me, I would have rather gone away for the weekend, but oh well.) When he got home, he had Yellow Roses in tow (my favorite) and we both got all gussied up and went out to dinner then of course went shopping for things we don't really need.

Both days were wonderful, and I'm very grateful that I have Ira in my life!

I LOVE YOU HONEY!!!!

Most of you know our story.... but I love telling it so, this is us....

My best friend Ruth (Miller to most of you) was getting married and asked me to be her maid of honor. I of course said yes. Now you all have to understand at the time I was living in Utah and just ended a VERY serious relationship, and in the process of moving back to Indiana. She asked me March and the wedding was in October. So off I went back to Indiana not thinking anything of it just happy to get back home.

August comes around and I'm talking to Ruth about wedding plans and some guys asks her who she's talking to and say let me say hi, So not knowing who this is we talk forever (I think almost an hour) so Ruth gets back on the phone and says that that was her soon to be BIL.

October comes, my dad was diagnosed with lung cancer and talks to me about not going to the wedding. A. He didn't want me drive across the country by myself. B. He wanted all of us kids to be close, he wanted to spend as much time with us as he could. My mom tells him that she thinks I need to go because I'm going to meet someone while I'm out there.

I tell her NOWAY, I'M DONE WITH GUYS RIGHT NOW!!!!

I then drive across the country to Ruth and Derek's wedding. We are sitting at her parents house playing games and in walks IRA! WOW, my mouth drops, and I thought to myself, that's IRA. One look at him and I was done for, I knew that we were going to get married.

(DANG IT MOM WAS RIGHT, I HATE SAYING THAT)

Ira and I hit it off, We spent the entire weekend together. I had to leave for home on Sunday, and got a REALLY late start because it took us 3 hours to say goodbye! We talked all the way home 30 hours on the phone. When I pulled into our driveway, my mom meets me at the door and says "Who's Ira? He called to see if you got home ok." That next week Ira went shopping for my engagement ring. He flew to Indiana for Thanksgiving and purposed to me (3 weeks after we met.)

He moved to Indiana at the end of December and we started planning for our wedding.

We were married Feb. 21st 2004.

The next year Ira and I were sealed in the Chicago Temple for time and all eternity.

I love this man!

Awww, I love, love stories! You are as crazy as Dan and I, we knew each other for 6 weeks and were married 3 months from when we met. I'd kill my daughter if she did that! Thanks for sharing.

i love that you love the movie In Her Shoes. Me too... love it.

I love how you had a great rapport on the phone before you even met.

I love that you listened to your mother and went to meet the guy...er...uh... i mean, went to the wedding.

I love that you only knew each other for 3 weeks before he proposed.

i love how your story is the exception to the "no exceptions" rule...
